BeCalc, BeMap and BeSpeak by GØTLK

Alan Messenger, G0TLK, has written three different programs for the Psion to help beacon listeners know which beacon is transmitting when. Since I don't have a Psion to actually try these programs myself, I am simply paraphrasing information from Alan's web site at http://home.clara.net/alangm2. Alan can be contacted by e-mail at alangm2@clara.net.

BeCalc calculates in real time which beacon is transmitting on each of the five bands and shows this together with the bearing and distance of each beacon from your location. The information about the beacons and about your location is fully editable using standard Psion applications.

With BeMap, one selects a band and BeMap calculates which beacon is currently transmitting on that band and shows the location of the beacon on a world map along with information about that beacon and its bearing and distance from your location. Again, the information about the beacons and about your location is fully editable using standard Psion applications.

BeSpeak is a real time HF beacon voice announcer. One selects a band and a voice announces each beacon as it is about to transmit on the band. In addition, the screen shows the location, callsign and status of the beacon which is transmitting. Both the textual information and the voice announcements are fully editable using standard Psion applications. If you go to Alan's web page, you can hear a sample voice announcement for 4U1UN. I predict most Americans will prefer this great British accent over their own voice!
