This fall (2004), Justin will be entering his junior year at the University of Wisconsin -- Stevens Point. He is majoring in Natural Resource Management and Environmental Law. He was first licensed at age 15 in 1999 as KB9UZV, and is a first generation ham. Most of what he knows was gained through listening to other operators on and off the air, and through the Internet.
Justin enjoys working DX, especially on Six Meters, with 45 DXCC, WAS, and over 400 grids confirmed on that band. He is also a SSB and CW contesting fanatic. Active in most VHF contests, he can be usually be found at W0AIH M/M during HF contest weekends. During the 2004 CQWW WPX, he operated Single Op Single Band 20M and placed first nationally. He also made the top ten in the ARRL VHF QSO Parties.
Justin has a deep interest in VHF radio auroral propagation and travels annually to high latitudes in northern Canada to collect information for auroral studies. He enjoys travelling to remote locations throught the USA and Canada to activate rare grid squares on Six Meters. He also owns and operates a Six Meter beacon that has been heard all over the nation.
